Quick answers
How do I install the APK?
Download the APK from the download page, which has step-by-step install instructions. Open the file on your device. The first time you install from your browser or file manager, Android asks whether to allow installs from that source — tap allow. Updates install over the top; your session data is preserved.
Are all counting systems really free?
Yes. All seven systems — Hi-Lo, KO, ReKO, Hi-Opt II, Omega II, Zen Count, and Wong Halves — are unlocked on install. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription, and no ads. The app is open source under Apache 2.0 so you can verify this for yourself.
The count or true count looks wrong — what should I check?
First, check the Decks Remaining slider — if it's set too low, the true count will be inflated. Next, verify you have the correct counting system selected (Hi-Lo, KO, etc.) since tag values differ between systems. For unbalanced systems like KO and ReKO, true count is not displayed — this is expected behaviour.
Why is my blackjack edge showing as negative?
A negative edge means the house currently has the advantage — this is normal when the true count is below +1. The baseline house edge on a 6-deck S17 game is roughly −0.46% with perfect basic strategy. As the true count rises above +1, the edge shifts in your favour. The app calculates this live based on your true count and the table rules you have configured.
Is the app compatible with my Android version?
Counting Edge requires Android 7.0 (API 24) or later. It targets Android 15 (API 36) and is optimised for modern devices. If you are experiencing issues on a supported version, please email us with your device model and Android version.
Can I use the app offline?
Yes. The entire app runs locally on your device — no internet connection is required to count cards, access strategy charts, or use any feature. The app makes no network calls.
Where can I report a bug or request a feature?
Open an issue at github.com/vectorlogic-dev/card-counter/issues, or use the email templates above. Pull requests are welcome too — see CONTRIBUTING.md for the dev setup.
